VGNO

Well the hubby took the night off work, so I thought I would spend some time blogging while the kids harass him instead of me!
I decided that I'm going to join in the VGNO being hosted by Ann. I'm so excited and I LOVE her theme tonight! Where would you rather be???

Here in Colorado, we have completely missed our summer so far. We have had a few warm and nice days here and there but nothing like our typical summers. Yesterday I was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt freezing my tush off! Today was suppose to be nice and so we attempted a trip to the swimming pool; where we got rained out! This weekend is the hubby's police vs. fire football tournament and luckily it's suppose to be in the 80's and dry. Here's hoping. So needless to say, I would love to be on a beach. I'm not picky, just as long as it's warm and summer like.
Sitting in a comfy chair, with the hubby and some drinks watching our kids play in the sand would be perfect!

My drink of the evening would be a...........
Blue Hawaiian

3/4 oz. Light Rum
3/4 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Blue Caracao
3 oz. Pineapple Juice
1 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix
Preparation:Combine all ingredients and mix well. If using ice, mix the ingredients in a blender. Serve in a tall glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple and a cherry. Mmmmmm, sounds so yummy!

Have a wonderful weekend and a fun evening blog hopping, thanks to all who stopped by to visit!

Full of Surprises

Monday was filled with an evening of surprises! Lets see, the morning and afternoon went pretty normal. I took some family pictures of a friend and her girls. They turned out really good, I am very happy with them. Cleaning, cooking, picking up toys, playing mediator between the kids and the puppy, you know the usual stuff for the rest of the afternoon.

The kids were getting restless so I suggested that we go outside and wash my car. It was really bad, inside and out. We started by pulling the car out of the garage and into the driveway. I had the doors open and tried to bribe the kids to pull all of their crap (toys I mean) out of the car, but instead they were more interested in playing with all of my buttons and knobs. I got them distracted and they cam out of the car and we closed the doors and began washing. Once the car was clean they had had enough and went inside, I on the other hand needed to do some cleaning on the inside. Well guess what? I left the keys on the dashboard and the kids locked the car in the process of playing with the buttons!!! They hubby was not at all happy with that smooth move. He pulled out the wire coat hanger and tried his hardest to open that car, with no luck at all. The neighbor came over and brought his slim Jim and still no luck. I ended up calling the 24 hour locksmith and practically signed my (or the hubbys) life over to pay for it! $160 to unlock my flippin car!!! I almost swallowed my tongue when he gave me the total. That was my first surprise of the evening and we still had another one to come...................

We got the kids to bed and it started lightening and then raining and then hailing and then all of the sudden the wind really kicked up and suddenly we were on a tornado warning. Holy crap, it was a little scary, considering that we live only miles from the mountains and we NEVER get tornado warnings. We weren't sure what was going to happen so we grabbed the kids and headed to the basement. They didn't know what to think and neither did we. Luckily it was over within minutes and we only got side swiped! My best friend lives about 6 miles to the north of us and their neighborhood looks like, well like a tornado hit it. There were no actual tornado's (near us) but it would have been really scary if there had been. About 20 miles north of us they got hit REALLY BAD. Here are some pictures of the damage! This had to have been one, the news is still debating.

Monday Menu Plan

It has been so hot here lately that I don't even want to turn the oven on or cook inside. This weeks menu is pretty simple, nothing to fancy or complicated! If I can cook it on the grill, were eating it this week :)

Monday - Steak kabobs with grilled veggies and rice pilaf

Tuesday - Grilled Salmon, corn on the cobb, mixed geens salad

Wednesday - Club sandwiches, chips and fruit

Thursday - Pasta salad with chicken and veggies

Friday - Pizza night at the pizza shop

Saturday - Left overs

Sunday - Garam Marsala pork roast in the crock pot, with potatoes and carrots, and french bread.

Middle of Summer Boredom

So we still have a month to go before the kids are back in school and we are running out of things to do! Summer has finally hit and it's hot! All they want to do is go swimming but I cant afford to do that every day. We have been trying to go with friends who belong to pools or live in a complex that has one. The only problem with that, is that I only have 2 arms and 3 kids. Luckily I don't have to worry about Shay too much, he can swim and would rather not hang out with me. Having 2 little ones that don't know how to swim is a definite challenge though. Going to a pool that doesn't have a shallow area is a drag. It's not much fun for me or the kids to carry them around a pool. How am I suppose to teach them to swim when they are both locked around my waist and holding onto me with a death grip? That's the problem we have run into, friends that have pools in their apartment complexes that are just 1 deep pool. I have tried to buy all of the floating devices and they want nothing to do with them and refuse to use them. I agree, it's much more fun to go to a place that they can run around and play in the water and I can sit and watch! Therefore our only option is to spend the money and go to a kid friendly pool!!!! I swear I just cant catch a break when it comes to spending money.

Like water and oil....just not meant for one another

There are many things that just aren't meant to be and this is one of them.

Puppies and gum (that has been sitting in the sun all day long, mind you)......................

Yup, Blue found a nasty ass wad of gum and decided to smash his face in it and smear it around a little. Can you hear the cursing now??? Oh heck yea, I sounded like I came down with turrets! All I could keep asking myself was how the hell am I gonna get that off of him? The only trick I know is peanut butter, so I tried it. Didn't work out so great, I ended up having to cut the stickiness out and I cut the poor thing on the head. Now he looks stupid and bald, like he was abused or something!
Once again, I am asking myself what the hell was I thinking about getting a puppy????

Wordful Wednesday, Learning to get along

It's been almost 2 months now since getting the puppy and the cat is finally deciding that he secretly likes him! Blue (dog) will try to wrestle with Squishy (cat) and even though the cat growls and bats at him, he doesn't run away. I think he actually has fun. He had just better watch out, Blue isn't going to be this size for much longer! He is growing so fast and he is quite a stinker. Some days I hate him. Yes I said it, there are days when this puppy makes me so angry and frustrated that I have thought of taking him to the pound. I'm tired of the biting, nipping and jumping up on the table to eat food that is not his! I honestly didn't think that a puppy would be this exhausting! He is a real pain in the ass and I cant wait for him to grow up.
