The Great Mouse Rescue

Squishy has learned to be an outdoor cat and has reached his first milestone! He caught his first mouse. A teeny tiny baby mouse. He didn't kill it or even hurt the poor little thing. I don't think he knew what to do with it! All he wanted to do was play with it. Well the hubby apparently felt bad for him and attempted a mouse rescue! Guess who got it on video? Me of course, watch this.
Take notice of what he is wearing. My oven mitts. Sweet.

Wordful Wednesday, Field Day

Field day was always so exhausting when I was younger. I remember doing the long jump, the high jump, 100 yard dash and all kinds of stuff that wore me out. My memories consist of side aches, lots of sweating and it went on allllll day long.

My sons field day for the past 3 years have been soooooo boring! The shoe kick? The geo throw? the soccer kick? The penguin walk? Seriously??? I am hoping that the 4th grade is more fun to watch. Don't get me wrong there were some exciting and fun things to watch, like 3................the long jump, the relay race and tug of war. Yeah, that's about it. I'm praying that it gets more exciting in the next 3 years; I will go to the 4th grade field day and it had better be exciting or I'm making up excuses for the rest of elementary school! Anyway enough of my whining here are some pictures that I got from this year and yes he looks like the shoe polish exploded in his face. I have no comment! To top it all off, he lost all of the ribbons that he won and he could have cared less!

By the way, if any of you have had issues getting my blog to run will you let me know. I dont know if its my computer or my web page! Thanks.

BAD MOMMY MOMENT (AND DADDY)

So we feel like we should get the parents of the year award. NOT! We missed Jaxson's preschool continuation today. We feel like shit. How did that happen??????? I didn't even realize that it was today. So I got him on video singing Slippery Fish (the song from the little performance that we missed) and I will post it later. Now I'm going to go cry.

Recovering from sleep deprivation

It was a looooong and hot weekend. Dragging myself from bed at 4 am wasn't so bad, flying to Vegas not to horrible, waiting for hours to get a hotel room.....only a little irritating, dragging myself out and pretending not to be exhausted..........excruciating! We managed to go out for a few hours and celebrate my girlfriends upcoming wedding and have a little bachelorette fun! We got all dressed up and gave her some attention getting party favors and headed out for a night on the strip. The best Las Vegas housewife blogger/girlfriend Tasha met up with us and our first stop was dinner at The Brew Pub in our hotel (the Monte Carlo) where we had the biggest beer I have ever seen! 100 oz. to be exact. Next stop was to the top of Mandalay Bay to visit The Foundation Room, and it has the greatest view of the strip! Next we stopped at Rum Jungle and had a few shots, watched the GoGo dancers all while socializing with these "ladies"!!!

All in all it was a fun night but we were so tired and ended up in bed at 11:30 pm. IN VEGAS! Yes, I felt like an old Lady! I will show you more in the days to come.

Viva Las Vegas

Well everyone, the time has come for me to take a vacation. If it's an extreme life or death emergency you may find me at the Monte Carlo pool all weekend. I will probably be burned to a crisp, reading my book, slightly hung over and missing my family a little bit!

Watch out Las Vegas me and 4 of my girls are coming out for a bachelorette weekend, it could get scary! LOL, scary meaning staying up way past my usual bedtime (meaning past midnight), have 3 or more drinks (I will be falling on my ass if I have more than that) and breaking my ankle in high heels (that I never wear). Yup that's about as exciting as it gets in my life!

I'm very excited to see one of my best girl friends, some of you may know her. She's Tasha, a housewife in Las Vegas. She has a great blog, so go on, check her out. I will be back on Tuesday with lots of pictures and maybe some juicy stories. For now, I'm off to bed for a 4 am wake up call. OMG, I cant remember the last time I had to get up that early.

Neighborhood Watch Meeting

A not so friendly K-9 dog and his handler. The kids were able to touch him.

This is the pimped out recruiting car.
This vehicle is called "The Bear". It was used during the DNC last summer.
My hubby (the officer on the left) has been working really hard over the past few months organizing a HUGE neighborhood watch meeting. He was a little nervous about it only because he didn't know how many people would show up and what the weather would end up like. It was a huge success! Almost 500 people showed up and the weather was perfect (we have the sunburns to show for it). Outback Steakhouse donated 200 meals consisting of grilled chicken and hamburgers, potato salad and all the fixins. There were emergency vehicles galore for the kids to go in and explore, jumping castles, and airbrush tattoos. A dunk tank was available for one of the officers to cool off in. The K-9 unit was there to do a demonstration. A raffle included prizes such as massages, tanning packages, gift cards and a load of other gifts. My hubby and all of the neighborhood watch coordinators did an awesome job! Congrats to all on the great turnout.

Enchilada Casserole

This is a good, easy dinner to make ahead of time and the family loves it. I double this recipe so that I have enough for left overs!

I serve it with steamed rice and refried beans. Heres how to make it......................
1 lb ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pkg chili seasoning (any flavor or temp you like)
1/2 onion diced
1 lg pkg corn tortillas (cut into 1" pieces)
1 16oz pkg shredded cheddar cheese
sour cream
salsa

Brown the beef and onions then drain off the grease. Return to the pan and add the soup plus 1/2 can of water and the chili seasoning. Bring mixture to a simmer and turn off. In a deep casserole dish start layering the ingredients, starting with the meat mixture just to coat the bottom of the pan. Next a layer of tortillas, then the cheese. Repeat this sequence up to 3 times, ending with the meat mixture. Use the remaining cheese to top it off.

Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Let the casserole cool for about 10 minutes before cutting, this lets it set a bit. Serve with your choice of side dish and garnish with sour cream and salsa.

I hope your family enjoys it. Just a hint, it tastes even better the next day!

Getting Suspended From School Sucks

Let me start by saying, it's a damn good thing I got a vacation this past weekend. This week has started out horrible! Yesterday, Shaymus got suspended from school and he also got an in school suspension on Friday for something different. The child is in 3rd grade and he took a lighter to school with him (this tiime) and was showing it to the other students. Needless to say, he got caught with it. I had to go pick him up from the Principals office and talk to her about it. I was so pissed at him and it took everything in me not to scream bloody murder at him. I am angry that he took a lighter to school but I am really angry because he knows better. We have had this issue before and he has been taught and lectured to about how dangerous fire is. We have been dealing with his pyro issues for over 3 years now. I'm pissed.
He was suspended for 1 day and this is how he is spending it. If he's not in his room, he is cleaning the house. Doesn't look like much fun does it. I don't know how else to punish him. He is grounded for 2 weeks, today and yesterday he was in his room with nothing to do. There will be no friends, TV, computer or video games for the first week, the second week he can play with friends but still no TV, computer, games.........and his freedom will be very limited for quite awhile now.
I hope this reminds him of how he is expected to behave and be responsible.
